ROAMING TRAIL
The inventor of the "Paddock Paradise", Jamie Jackson, followed wild horses in Nevada for several years on their migrations and was fascinated by their health. Jackson studied their habits and applied his observations to the management of domestic horses. He is convinced that horses become lazy, neurotic and weak due to the conditions in which they are kept in horse stalls, making them susceptible to lameness and respiratory disease. He has come to the realization that horses only do well mentally and physically when they are constantly free to move.
In contrast to purely keeping horses in a stable with daily exercise, the horses are encouraged to move constantly and they build up social contacts in the herd. In this way, the bones and joints are always ready for action. The horse is optimally prepared for sporting use and the warm-up phase for riding is also significantly shortened.
The main component of the "Paddock Paradise" is a trail that is laid as a three to ten meter wide strip over the available area and simulates the migration routes of wild horses. This involves offering hay in as many places as possible, as it provides the main incentive for exercise. According to Jackson, there should be many small mini piles scattered along the trail.
WALK-IN WALK-OUT
Our Walk-in Walk-out stalls offer horses a 15 sqm stable with permanent access to a 130 sqm mud-free paddock. At TAMO EQUESTRIAN, two of these stalls are available, perfect for horses that cannot live in the herd. The reinforced paddock features a hay rack and a sand area for rolling. Additionally, there is direct access to the pasture, allowing the horses to enjoy their own small roaming trail in good weather. Our horse-friendly and healthy fence planting creates a natural environment.
